Priyanka Chopra is undoubtedly the global icon now. The Bollywood hottie who started out as a desi girl, paved her way to Hollywood and soon became an international sensation. Her motivational interviews and speeches are something that are intently looked forward to. Naturally, she is someone the women out there can safely take inspiration from. Well, an advertisement by Times Now tried to make this point but ended up doing it in the most disgusting way possible. The media outlet not only dragged her personal life in the name of #WomenOnTop, but also mentioned the surnames of the people she allegedly was dating, in the course of her journey. That's pretty nasty and uncalled for.
So This is the Ad that We are Talking About
As you can see how the ad makers urged the viewers to boost English news viewership amongst women. They even used the hashtag #WomenOnTop with channel's leading female reporters standing proudly in a straight line. But what about those surnames? Why was her personal life mentioned in a initiative that was supposed to be about the 'women on top'? So, you mean that a woman who is successful cannot be mentioned without mentioning the men in her life? Is she not complete just with her professional achievements?
Why Target PC?
NO idea who designs your ads, @TimesNow, @MirrorNow, @ETNOWlive -- but just FYI types, this is really, really messed up on MANY levels. Especially since you're saying #WomenOnTop. Why target @priyankachopra? pic.twitter.com/uDXpblduZb

This is disgusting. Priyanka should sue them for using her name in such a pathetic way. This is not women on top. This is putting women down.

Correction- Remove Times Now & its other nows since I had mistaken the stupid ad of Times Now over priyanka Chopra as Advertisement. However, by using her fame, they are indirectly promoting her which is totally wrong on the part of Times Group. 😡https://t.co/CE5XPaBIK3

@priyankachopra please sue times now for defamation... this is not right. What you do in your private life is nobody's business...
— Fat Cheeks (@ChotiDeepu) June 25, 2018
@priyankachopra you better sue them now, @TeamPriyanka wake up.
How can someone disrespect so openly, it isn't even funny nor empowering, who the fuck is editor?

Obviously, the netizens too were shocked with this kind of campaign and slammed it left, right and centre. People even urged Priyanka too sue the ad makers and the channel fir the kind of statement they tried to make here with her personal life pulled up for no reason. We hope that PC takes this suggestion seriously and let the people know that what a 'woman on top' actually is! We hope the initiative takers will learn from the incident and take some real lessons on women empowerment!
