Ghaziabad (UP), Jul 10 (PTI) The chief medical officer (CMO), Ghaziabad, has released an advisory highlighting the detrimental effects of mobile phone addiction on children in both rural and urban areas.

The advisory emphasises that what often starts as a minor habit can escalate into significant mental health issues, leading to widespread behavioral problems among children.

The advisory notes that an increasing number of parents are grappling with their children's problematic behaviour, directly linked to excessive mobile usage.

The advisory details a range of issues stemming from this addiction, categorised into physical, emotional, psychological, and behavioral problems.

"Many children are experiencing neck and back pain due to maintaining a single posture for extended periods," CMO Akhilesh Mohan told PTI on Wednesday.

"Additionally, disturbances in eating habits and sleep patterns are becoming increasingly common," he added.

The advisory, issued on Monday also warns of a rise in cybercrime and an increase in suicidal tendencies associated with these issues.

The advisory stresses the need for immediate action to mitigate these problems. The advisory recommends several precautionary measures to reduce mobile usage time of children.
