It’s a famous saying – never celebrate too early. But it was not the case for 16-year-old British Sprinter Jake Odey-Jordan. He was not even celebrating, but drastically slowed down near the finish line and was overtaken by his opponents. After leading the pack for most of the men's 200m race at the European Athletics U18 Championships 2024, Jake Odey-Jordan slowed down far too early, so half of his competitors caught him up and beat him to the finish line. Odey-Jordan eventually finished in fourth place, eliminating him from the championships.
