Kolkata, Jul 7 (PTI) A fire broke out at a plastic factory-cum-godown here on Sunday evening, police said.

The fire started around 5pm at the factory located at Paschim Chowbaga under Anandapur police station limits, an officer said, adding eight fire tenders have been pressed into service to contain the blaze.

Highly flammable materials stored in the factory facilitated the rapid spread of the fire. Since the unit was closed on Sunday, no injuries were reported, the officer added.

As a precautionary measure, the neighborhood has been evacuated, and power supply has been temporarily cut off in the area.
