While 2019 was still getting over the mania of Marvel's Avengers: Endgame, DC decided to amp up our excitement with Joaquin Phoenix's Joker. Though a certain section of the society would debate over Joker's inclusion in the list of superhero movies, we think it deserves to find a place for the character is manipulative enough and the same could be his superpower. With X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Captain Marvel, Shazam, Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home and lastly Joker releasing in the same year, 2019 was a delight for all superhero or should we say 'theme park' movie lovers. Angelina Jolie's First Look as Thena from Marvel's Eternals Gets LEAKED from the Movie Sets (View Pics).

Though the coming year will offer a lesser number of superhero movies, the releases are equally impressive. With DC coming in with Margot Robbie's Birds of Prey and Marvel venturing into Black Widow's solo outing, 2020 will have a healthy blend of different genres of superhero movies. Speaking of which, let's discuss the upcoming superhero movies releasing in 2020.

Birds of Prey, February 7, 2020

DC's Birds of Prey will be a sequel to its 2016 release Suicide Squad. Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn joins a team of superheroes like Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to save a young girl from an evil crime lord. Quinn was probably the most loved character in Suicide Squad and having a spin-off of some sorts for her character was a smart decision.

Black Widow, April 30, 2020

Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow finally gets a solo outing and going by its first teaser trailer, the outcome already looks promising. Johansson will return as a Russian spy, Natasha Romanoff to join hands with her crazy family to tackle the big villain, Taskmaster.

Wonder Woman 1984, June 5, 2020

The success of Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman was a major reason why Marvel decided to go ahead with Black Widow's solo outing. Gadot was brilliant as an Amazon princess and the sequel is probably one of the most awaited movies of next year.

Morbius, July 31, 2020

Jared Leto ditches his Joker character for Morbius - a living vampire. The movie will probably be a part of Sony's cinematic universe that will have Spider-Man and Venom coming together with Morbius.

Venom 2, October 2, 2020

Tom Hardy will return as Venom in this sequel that hits the screen in October next year. As per reports and even the post-credit scene, Woody Harrelson's Carnage will be the main villain in the film's second instalment.

Eternals, November 6, 2020

After Avengers, Marvel is back with another multi-starrer in Eternals. The movie has a stellar star cast of Angelina Jolie, Kit Harrington, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek with Gemma Chan and others.

While Marvel has restricted itself to two outings for 2020, it will go ahead with four releases every year, starting 2021. The future ahead sure looks exciting for the pop culture fans and we can't wait for these super entertaining years to come.
