Nach Baliye 9 premiered over the weekend and what an extravaganza it was. Let us remind you that in one of the promos, producer Salman Khan had said that 'Nach will be more than fine...' and it was... full of masala. And as per the theme (couples and ex-couples) this time, right from blissfully married for years couples, to complicated yes or no couples, to bitter exes, the Nach Baliye 9 grand premiere saw it all. While the exes revealed their sad breakup stories and some even indulged in some drama, there were a few who were all about love. However, standing apart from the above-mentioned couple types is the jodi of Medically Yourrs actors Shantanu Maheshwari and Nityaami Shirke. However, the pair is in the no-drama phase, and they themselves say so. While very less is known about your love story, we know that you guys met on the sets of Medically Yours. How did love blossom?
It is different for people all over, as some people immediately fall in love and some take their own time. So for us, we are still in the liking and exploring our relationship phase. And this is our way of doing things, and our journey and just the way we are taking things in our stride. We are that couple who is going slow with their relationship.

All the way from our show together, to where we are right now, I don’t think either of us expected what would happen. Jab I first met Shantanu on set, I never thought we’d get as close as we did and bond like we did, especially considering we were otherwise different personalities and came from such different worlds. I think what connected us was that we are both easy going and we could start a conversation about anything really. Also the fact that we’re both private, family people. I was so damn surprised that someone like Shantanu was as grounded and as down to earth as he is. The more I got to know him off set, I realised that he was genuinely someone I looked up to and respected. 😊 And so, that’s how it all began! Entering Nach Baliye wasn’t planned but it kind of happened at the exact time we’d started getting to know each other better. Though honestly, things are just starting out and both of us will always be friends pehle! That being said, I’m excited that we get to share the stage and just have fun together 💃🏽🕺🏽I know yeh Sab easy toh Nahin hoga and there will be ups and downs - but I wouldn’t want this journey to be with anyone else and I can’t wait to see where it will take us 🙏🏽😊❤️ #readytonach @shantanu.maheshwari 😊
You guys are very private about your relationship. Why did you guys decide to do Nach Baliye 9, and come out as a couple on national television?
I have been offered Nach Baliye in the past, but was not in a relationship so never took it up. Though this time it accidentally slipped out from my mouth that I am seeing someone, after which things just fell into place and Nityaami and I mutually decided to do the show. We also took this up because of our mutual love for dance, as well as to get to know each other better.
Shantanu, while you are an accomplished dancer, Nityami you have taken a few classes. How was the experience of dancing and matching steps with each other in the initial days of the rehearsals? How much time did you guys take to get habituated to each other's pace?
We are honestly still taking time to get habituated to each others pace. Nityaami is still taking some time to get into the groove, as she has been out of dance for quite some time and her body is now getting used to this routine. But we are being positive about this, and the best part is that there is always willingness from her side to push herself, learn and enjoy. So there's no stress, as whatever it is, we are ensuring that we enjoy ourselves through this journey.

I’m a private person and I like to keep things like that but now that I’m doing #nachbaliye, my relationship is out in open... So confirming that YES I’m dating @nityaami.shirke and we are in this 'like' phase of our relationship. We both never thought we would end up dating each other when we first met as my ek tarfa pyaar was still prevailing in my heart... and we hail from very different backgrounds, but somehow we connected.... Nach Baliye was not something that was in picture but we both thought of exploring our relationship via this...good bad ugly - we dont know what will be the course of our journey...Yes, I know it’s a big decision, don’t know what to expect and how things will go... but hopefully we continue to enjoy and explore our relationship. Let’s see where it takes us.
Tell us about the one fear/ reservation that you both have about participating in Nach Baliye 9?
Nityaami- To be honest, reality TV is not really my zone, as I don't like to mix my professional and personal life. And this goes for both of us, as we are both very private people. So the fact that we are even doing this show and bringing our personal lives into it is a bit scary for us!
Shantanu- Because this is Nach Baliye and all the other contestants are either married or in long term relationships, there comes along an assumption with that particular relationship about it being perfect or not! So that is my reservation, as we are not here to prove that we are an ideal couple or something of that sort, and nor do we want to be compared with others who are different in terms of their own relationship. We are different from the others in terms of our personality, and in the way we are handling our relationship, and so this whole comparison thing which comes in by default is something I am reserved about!
As partners who are getting to know each other, tell us each other's strengths and weaknesses that you have discovered so far?
Shantanu- Nityaami is someone who is truly dedicated to what she does and a very hard worker. She is very open-minded, and never says no to try something new, and that is something which I admire about her. She always strives to give in her best!
Nityaami- Shantanu is someone who is always pushing me to do my best! And that is something which I truly appreciate. He is really hardworking and its good to watch him in his zone, which also inspires me to work harder. He is also someone who really helps destress me, and maintains the balance between pushing me as well as telling me to take it easy.
Shantanu- Nityaami is somewhat of an overthinker and tends to think too much at times, because of which she always ends up stressing a lot too!
Nityaami- Shantanu is sometimes a little shy and reserved, especially when we do partner work, and so he tends to apologise for a lot, which is very sweet but I have to keep telling him not to apologise and just go for it!
Well, while totally belong to that category of broken hearts, we do wish Shantanu and Nityaami all the very best for their Nach Baliye 9 journey and their other journey as partners too.
