Besides being one of the longest-running shows on TV, Rajan Shahi’s Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is also one of the most successful shows on the tube. It is also one of the most viewed shows on Indian television and despite the show changing hands from one lead pair to another, (from Karan Mehra as Naitik and Hina Khan as Akshara to Mohsin Khan as Kartik and Shivangi Joshi as Naira), the show has maintained and even amassed a larger audience. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai July 19, 2019 Written Update Full Episode: Kartik Dreams of Naira, While Akhilesh Wonders Why Naira Hasn’t Stopped Vedika’s Wedding Yet?

However, producer Rajan Shahi says that he had anticipated the show’s success. He says, “Initially when we were thinking about making Yeh Rishta…, I wasn’t aware of the expectations that others had from the show. I was always confident that the show will do well. It had a different kind of storytelling format and remained true to its characters."

"I think we did well because at that particular time there were various dramatic shows happening and when this show came, with a cast of newcomers, and a few experienced actors, complete with a different concept (the story of a girl’s and guy’s journey in an arranged marriage), it felt like a breath of fresh air. I would say that the ‘simplicity’ worked for us,” he says. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai July 9 2019 Written Update Full Episode: Naira Reveals About her Relationship with Kartik to Lisa

Well, we totally agree. Not only is Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai known for its storytelling, but also for the fact that the show has always incorporated social issues and current affairs in their storylines, to spread awareness amongst their viewers. It can be recalled that the show also had a #MeToo incorporated storyline where it was depicted to the viewers that sexual harassment meted out to a person by anybody (even a family member) is not okay and that the victim should raise his/her voice.
