New Delhi, January 4: Air India, a government-owned enterprise, on Friday made an announcement that it will start special flights between Prayagraj and various cities for the Kumbh Mela 2019. The special flights will be effective from January 13 to March 30, Air India Said in a statement. Kumbh Mela, Hindu pilgrimage of faith, would be from January 15 to March 31 at Prayagraj, previously known as Allahabad. Air India Pilots Reject Airline's Decision to Revise Salary Structure, Fear 25% Pay Cut.

According to the official statement, Delhi-Prayagraj flight AI 403 would be operated on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. The Prayagraj-Kolkata service would be on Friday and Sunday while the Prayagraj-Ahmedabad flight would be on Wednesday and Saturday. The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government also asked government owned- Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) to run special buses from various destinations to Prayagraj for Kumbha Mela. Air India Sends Duty Roasters To Dead And Retired Employees; Airlines Claims Technical Glitch.

One of the largest religious gatherings in the world, the 2019 Allahabad Ardh Kumbh Mela would be held at Triveni Sangam. More than 10 crores devotees are expected to visit the Kumbh Mela will begin on 15 January 2019. Earlier, low-cost airline SpiceJet also announced flights between Prayagraj and Delhi from January 6 to March 30.
