Agra, July 14: A 37-year-old school teacher and wife of an Uttar Pradesh police inspector was allegedly sexually harassed by local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader on Friday. The relatives of the leader also beat the woman. According to a report published in The Times of India, she suffered a partial hearing loss in the right ear and fractures to an arm.
The victim filed an FIR against seven accused. The entire incident was recorded on CCTV. After the FIR all the accused are absconding. The incident took place at Bijauli village under Bah police jurisdiction. "I was getting my children ready for school when Chauhan, who was standing in front of his house, suddenly flashed and asked me to hold it. I immediately left the home to the police station for help. No formal complaint was filed but the officers said that they would detain Chauhan for questioning,” reported The Times of India quoting the victims as saying.
The main accused, Atul Chauhan is the vice president of BJP Kisan Morcha’s Agra unit. According to the report, the relatives of Chauhan started beating the victim as soon as she reached her home after complaining the police about the incident. She informed her husband over the phone. The FIR was lodged after her husband came in the evening.
According to the report, Chauhan was booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 354 A (physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures). The relatives of the accused including his wife and his mother were booked various sections of IPC. The Victim is an assistant teacher in government primary school, and her husband is an inspector posted at the Fatehgarh training centre of UP Police. According to the husband of the victim, this is not the first time that Chauhan has sexually harassed his wife.
