Urdu Poet Munawwar Rana Dies at 71 After Prolonged Illness
Known for his evocative ghazals and unwavering convictions, Rana made headlines in 2014 by declining the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award. May his soul RIP.
Urdu poet Munawwar Rana breathed his last today (Jan 14) at the PGI Hospital in Lucknow due to cardiac arrest. He was 71. Rana had been battling a prolonged illness for several months and was receiving treatment at the hospital. Earlier, as per reports he had kidney and heart-related ailments.
