WhatsApp users now have one more reason to start loving the messaging service, as the long-awaited feature of conference calls within the group has been rolled out. While many enjoyed the one to one audio and video calls, people for long wanted the feature to be enjoyed in groups. Facebook had announced last month they'd soon start the group calling feature and as promised it has been rolled out. Make sure you have the most recent version of the application to use the new feature.

WhatsApp has been working on new features from time to time. After adding the group descriptions, the group calling was much longed for. But as of now, only 4 people can participate in the group calling at a time. The new feature is not built into a group chat but goes from one individual to another. Although the feature was said to be only for the Beta version, it is now made available on the stable version as well.

Here's how you can use the Group Calling Feature for audio and video calls:

  • Start an audio/video call with a single individual.

  • On the top right corner, you will see an icon which lets you add someone else to the call.

  • Click on the icon to add any other contact from your contact list.

  • In case of an audio call, it will show the display pictures of all four members on the screen. In case of a video, you can see the other 3 people.

  • The receiver of the call can also add another person and need not necessarily be the first caller.

So get started and get your group together to try out the new feature. If you have a group of more than four then it can be a little disappointing though, but maybe in future, we can expect an update to add on more members. If you still have not got an update then maybe you'll have to wait a little to get the newest version. So the wait is a little longer for some. Along with these new features, WhatsApp is also working on including stickers in your chat screen.
