The MCU first phase movies did not have impressive trailers. It was only with the first The Avengers trailer that Marvel stepped up their game. Seems like the studio is back to its old ways. Because the new trailer of Captain Marvel just dropped and it's not as impressive and engaging as we'd expect a trailer to be in 2018. The movie stars Brie Larson as the Carol Danvers who becomes Captain Marvel. Despite being a strong performer, an Academy Award winner, Brie doesn't manage to gauge attention in the new footage of the Marvel movie.
Captain Marvel has been directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. The time period of the movie is in the '90s. The director duo seems to have been mistaken to make a movie for an audience of that era. But as we mentioned earlier, the first few trailers of the MCU are proof that despite dull promotional footage, the movie could turn out to be absolutely earth-shattering.
The only saving grace of the new Captain Marvel trailer is that we get to see why the superhero punched the old lady in the train in the first trailer. We sort of get to know. We see a gentler and sweeter side of Nicky Fury- if that is something that rows your boat.
There were no hints to Avengers 4 in the new trailer of Captain Marvel. Although, Carol Danvers does say that she will "end the war". But that might be me reading between the lines to think its an Infinity War nod.
Captain Marvel also features Ben Mendelsohn, Jude Law and Samuel L Jackson. It will release in theatres on March 8, 2019.
