Chennaiyin FC and FC Goa clash with each other in the second round of matches in Hero Indian Super League 2018 in Chennai. The defending champions controversially lost to Bengaluru FC in their opening encounter while FC Goa only managed one point from their match against NorthEast United FC. This would be a rematch of the playoffs of last season in which the Chennai side won 4-1 on aggregate. Jeje Lalpekhlua missed a sitter in the opening match and will look to regain his prime form while Dhanpal Ganesh is out for Chennai side.

The Goa side have no injury problems but Brandon Fernandes is suspended for the game. The goalkeeping errors of Mohammad Nawaz would be a concern as his handball outside the box resulted in the goal for NorthEast side.
