Can Bras Lead To Breast Cancer?

Our body is made up of Lymphatic vessels that form our lymphatic system. They play a very important role in our body by collecting lymph from your lymphatic capillaries, lymphatic vessels so that excess fluid from our tissues is removed. Apart from fat absorption, our lymphatic systems play a gamut of roles in our body. Our Breasts is made up of a dense lymphatic network making is a sensitive part of our body. Wearing tight bras can constrict them by applying pressure. The thin lymphatic vessels within the breast get constrained by misfitting bras causing the lymphatic circulation to be impaired.  You must note that impaired lymphatic drainage can hinder the cleansing process causing waste products, cancer cells, viruses, bacteria, to not flush out of the body. Breast tissues may also trap the excess lymph fluid. However, no one can say for sure that bras can cause breast cancer per se, but it may lay the grounds for health risks.

What Can You Do?

We are not saying that bras can directly cause Breast cancer. But there is a possibility that wearing the wrong bra size, especially the ones meant to shape your breasts in a certain way, can do more harm than good. You must avoid wearing bras that don't fit your size. This may affect the lymphatic system in your body and can lead to significant health concerns. You must also let your breasts breathe, and at least once in a day, you must go bra-less. Sleeping without a bra is highly recommended by experts.

However, as they say, prevention is always better than cure, it is important that you know how to check your breasts for lumps. As per World Health Organization, about 1.38 million new cases and 458 000 deaths from breast cancer come up each year. Early detection and preventive steps form the key here.
