Colours add so much to your surroundings. Can you imagine living in a monochromatic world? That's a thing to complex to imagine. But yes, it is definitely true that colours add so much to our lives in general. And each year has a colour to it. Pantone Color Institute which has an authority on deciding the colors depending on various factors, have chosen Living Coral as the Color of the Year 2019. A saturated orange base with a golden undertone to it, Living Coral is a warm and welcoming colour. After Ultraviolet in the year 2018, the color for 2019 has been revealed. ‘Toxic’ Is Oxford Dictionary’s Word of 2018: Know the 8 Words Shortlisted for the Word of Year.

"Just as coral reefs are a source of sustenance and shelter to sea life, vibrant yet mellow, Pantone 16-1546, Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment," Pantone announced. The Institute chooses these colours based on socioeconomic conditions, fashion trends, new technologies and some other pop-culture factors. Laurie Pressman of Pantone was quoted to the press, "We're looking toward those colors that bring nourishment and the comfort and familiarity that make us feel good. It's not too heavy. We want to play. We want to be uplifted." Today as much as people are driven towards technology, they are also craving a human interaction and social connection. So Coral is said to "welcome" and "encourage" them for developing connections and intimacy. "In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent color mesmerizes the eye and mind," Pantone said in the news release.
