Indore, September 30: In a shocking incident, over 9 kg of synthetic opioid, fentanyl was recovered from an illegal laboratory in Indore by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) last week. The chemical seized is so dangerous that it could have killed around 40-50 lakh people if used in a chemical warfare. The dangerous chemical was seized in a week-long operation carried out jointly by DRI and a team of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

According to a report published in The Times of India, the laboratory from where the fentanyl was seized was run by a local businessman and a “US-hating” PhD “scholar chemist”. The man was arrested last week along with a Mexican national. The drug was so dangerous that only two milligrams of it is sufficient to kill a person. Synthetic Drug Lab Found at Mexican Mountain! It is the first time that the fentanyl is seized from India. The seizure of this drug has baffled the scientists as the drug can only be manufactured in a controlled laboratory by a well-trained scientist. It is 100 times stronger than morphine. According to the report, the drug is usually smuggled to the United States where it is mixed with other chemicals and sold as a pill. Indian authorities are also tracking the procurement of important substance 4ANPP which is used to produce the deadly drug.
