New Delhi, Oct 21 (PTI) The Delhi Police has arrested three persons for allegedly duping a man of Rs 85 lakh by preparing forged land documents, officials said on Monday.
Those arrested have been identified as Madan Mohan Sharma (61), Deepak (40) and Anil Kumar (46), police said.
On July 15, 2023, an FIR was registered at the Sarojini Nagar police station based on a complaint filed by a sub-registrar alleging cheating using forged documents, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest), Surendra Choudhary, said.
"A forged conveyance deed for a plot was executed in favour of a person named Sanjay Mathur. During investigation, Mathur said Anil Kumar and Deepak, in a criminal conspiracy hatched with Madan Mohan and Pradeep, introduced themselves as employees of Delhi Development Authority (DDA). The accused claimed they could procure a DDA plot for Mathur for which they took Rs 85 lakh from him," the DCP said.
The accused then handed over a conveyance deed for the alleged plot to Mathur, but when he reached the sub-registrar's for registration, the document was found to be forged, he added.
On October 18, the police arrested Anil Kumar, Madan Mohan and Deepak for their alleged role in the fraud while a hunt is on to nab Pradeep, the fourth accused, Choudhary said.
During interrogation, Anil Kumar disclosed that they used to conduct recce of abandoned DDA plots and prepare forged documents for the targeted land.
"They used to introduced themselves as DDA employees to the prospective buyers to gain their confidence," the officer said.
