If you are dragging yourself through the week and impatiently waiting for the weekend to arrive, then here is something that will lift your mood instantly. In China, 18 panda cubs celebrated their first birthday together! Yes, the adorable furballs were treated to fruit cakes, formula milk and bamboo sticks. 24-year-old Huang Shunjie who takes care of the 18 cubs threw the party for animals as they turned a year old. Last year, the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda bred 31 giant panda cubs. The cubs including nine males and nine females, of which are three pairs of twins, were born between June to September. The panda cubs undergo regular physical examinations, they are constantly monitored by their breeders at the research centre. At the centre, the population of giant pandas has reached 285 which is more than half of the total 548 giant pandas living in captivity around the world. Currently, fewer than 2,000 pandas live in the wild, mostly in the provinces of Sichuan and Shaanxi.
